Sunday Style Profile: Princess Diana

Last year I saw loads and loads of posts and articles about Princess Diana’s style, and to be truthful I never crossed my mind after all these years. But the more and more I saw these photos and how many of her looks could have easily been a part of today’s landscape I realized what great style she did have. It also doesn’t hurt that I spent much of my December watching The Crown and that brought up many discussions about her style among other things.

Princess Diana’s style really ran the gamut. Much of the early style had a youthful feel with coordinating colors and prints. Some of these looks kinda border more on childish than youthful but again it was the 80s and it probably just made sense. Many of the articles I read about her style talked about how she was considered a real risk-taker especially when it came to the royal fashion rules (you know..the revenge dress comes to mind). Princess Diana wanted to be more modern rather than fashionable, she knew what she liked, and could be difficult to sway. She liked tailored clothing and preferred to wear British because she felt like it could have a positive impact on the fashion industry. Many of her looks have become iconic, stood the test of time, and could easily be worn today.
