Q&A: What's On My Nightstand?

Q&A

It feels like ages since I’ve done a Q&A post. Today we are getting super personal and heading into my bedroom. More specifically my nightstand to see what the hell I keep in/on there. My nightstand is like a one-stop shop for end-of-the-road things I might need. You know a collection of things that I probably need at some point, but never really want to get out of bed in order to get. It goes without saying I have the usual things hanging around there like a cool little lamp, a Himalayan salt lamp, and a bin that holds all the odds and ends I either toss in there or you’ll see below.

EYE MASK

Some nights the key to really great sleep is an eye mask. I love this one by Slip because it is made of the same mulberry silk the pillowcases are made out of. It is comfortable to sleep in and the fabric isn’t harsh on the delicate parts of the face. Looking well-rested is a 10 in my book.

PEPTIDE LIP TREATMENT

Bedtime is my favorite time to use Rhode’s Peptide Lip Treatment. No matter what time of day this lip treatment can make my lips look like a million bucks. I have tubes all over the place from my desk to my purse. But at night, because I’m not doing a million things, the lip treatment has extra time to make my lips pillowy soft and plump.

Intention Candle

It’s safe to say I have candles everywhere, but the Intention candle on my nightstand holds special importance. I use this candle any time I manifest, meditate, or do reflection and intention setting with the moon cycles. This candle has Palo Santo in it which is used to clear out negative energy, and reduce stress and inflammation. Palo Santo is good for clearing negative energy and replacing it with positive energy in order to move things forward in a clearer headspace. And, since I’m terrified of burning things after a horrible paper accident during a moon ritual years ago, I’m sticking with the candle!

CALM ALCHEMY CAPSULES

I use these a lot when traveling just to help my anxiety and sleep in new places. But I also get a lot of use of them at home. These natural capsules help reduce stress, increase the digestion, and don’t leave me feeling like I have a ton of brain fog when I wake up. When my stress levels rise due to work or just life, I take a couple of capsules before bed and chill the F out. Not only do these work well, but their founders and customer service are the kindness humans I’ve ever dealt with. If it means waking up feeling refreshed, chilled out, and having nice people to help out, sign me up.

ROSE QUARTZ FACE ROLLER

I’ll be honest, if you look around my apartment, you’re probably going to find a face tool of some kind nearly everywhere - even my freezer. So it’s not really a surprise I have one near my bed. I have a terrible habit of clenching my jaw even in my sleep. When I find myself doing this, I reach for the roller to help remove the tension. Whether or not that really works doesn’t matter to me since it’s more of a mind trick for me. I use this one as a final step of my nighttime routine once my skincare is done I do some face rolling to calm down before heading to bed.

Grace & Stella Rose Quartz Roller, $24

HAND LOTION

No one likes gross, dry cracked hands okay. As someone who swears by fake tanner, it’s important to keep that color looking good as long as possible - especially in the colder months. I love this hand lotion by Lux Unfiltered. It keeps my hands nourished, smells good, and, if they are right, minimizes the effects of aging.

Lux Unfiltered Reviving Hand Cream, $24

READING MATERIAL

I desperately try to be the no-tech before-bed type of person. When my phone hits wind-down mode, I start to shift to old-school reading material like books and print magazines. Yes, they still make those! Right now I’m still flipping through the pages of Vogue or reading more of the Palace Papers. On the rare occasion, I’m not decompressing with physical reading material, you MIGHT catch me doing a crossword puzzle.

STICKY NOTES

This one seems kinda random and weird, but let me tell you, as someone with immense anxiety it’s actually really helpful. Any time I wake up and need to remember something I can immediately jot it down. The same is true for anything I might need to remember the next day. I use sticky notes because they stick to a pad, obviously, and I can remove them and place them in other places so I don’t forget. For example my mirror or my day planner or even my fridge.

Paper Junkie Sticky Notes, $16 for a 6 pack
