5 Winter Trends to Know Right Now

Sometimes it feels crazy that its technically winter. I say technically because, well, Arizona has seasons for about….2 seconds before it’s onto the next one. I am pretty excited it has been colder lately despite the fact it seems like there really wasn’t even a transition to it. Just one day it was cold and we didn’t look back. That said, I do feel thankful I don’t have to deal with snow or frigid wind chills. When it comes to winter style, things can be a little different around here. Nevertheless it’s time to start looking at the winter trends. Just some of the fun stuff that is going to be taking over store shelves and Instagram feeds over the next few months. And, truth be told, some trends I’m going to be adding to my own closet, haha.

DENIM MIDI SKIRTS

Denim midi skirts just remind me of the late 90s and early 2000s. In fact, that’s probably the last time I wore one, but the more I see them on Instagram the more I just can’t look away. They are unique and a nice change up from the skirt trends of late. I think they have the perfect combination of chic and edge depending on how they are styled.

V-NECK SWEATERS

I have a real love/hate relationship with v-neck sweaters however there has been a shift in trends towards more preppy styles over edgy styles. I can’t think of anything that doesn’t instantly make me feel preppy like a good v-neck sweater. It just screams pair me with mini skirt and scrunchy socks. V-necks are honestly of the moment, easily styled, and just as fun as any other type of sweater.

SHEARLING

Shearling jackets aren’t really a new thing, but they are definitely having a moment right now. I became obsessed with this look when I fell in love with a shearling jacket I saw during the Zara sale last year (but never end up getting). With all of the incredible jackets out there this season, if you’re looking for something with a more classic silhouette that still makes a statement, this is for you.

CASHMERE

Cashmere is honestly a timeless classic. A good piece of Cashmere can last for years and still be stylish. I love cashmere because it is luxurious and chic. A really solid go to when grabbing an outfit quickly. The 2022 trend part comes in because more and more designers and brands have put an emphasis on luxurious lounging. This means tons of incredible cashmere loungewear and loungewear sets that can be worn inside or mixed and matched to head outdoors.

BALACLAVAS

There is nothing worse than freezing cold winter temperatures especially the days with a good old wind chill. The Balaclava is a trend that serves more function than fashion. They were introduced back in 1854 to keep soldiers warm while fighting the Crimean War, but have become a TikTok and Instagram trend when fashion houses started adding them to their collections in 2021. Many have attributed their resurgence to the pandemic and full time mask wearing which had an added benefit of keeping one’s face warm.
