Five Favorites: January

A glimpse into a few of my favorite things to kick off the new year strong.

Charcoal Mouth Rinse

Moon, $17

After a few disappointing months of using boring old toothpaste and mouthwash I made the switch back to Moon. Charcoal toothpaste has been everywhere, but I just couldn’t bring myself to try it. We know I love a good aesthetic and when I saw this bottle I thought why not? This truly doesn’t disappoint. At first the peppermint flavor is overwhelming, but the benefits outweigh that. It doesn’t burn and my teeth feel cleaner and look brighter. And I love that it comes in a sustainable, recyclable glass bottle with refills shipped in a soft pouch made of recycled material. A win all around.

Love Island All Stars

Stream on Peacock

Ah, my little nightly indulgence. I just can’t resist the drama. But I do feel like All Stars is a bit more cringy than regular ol’ Love Island. You can just feel sometimes a few of them found roles to play and really lean into them a bit too hard. Not to mention many of them seem a little too…in it to win it, if you know what I mean. Regardless I am seated every single night escaping the daily grind into a South African villa. Even this season’s Unseen Bits have my full attention.

An Elevated Dinner

Carbone marinara sauce, $8

I was really excited to try this roasted red pepper pizza recipe from Half Baked Harvest. We all know I can’t resist anything with Calabrian chili. It did not disappoint! I will admit, I did have to cheat a bit using refrigerated pizza dough from the grocery store and jarred marinara. Jarred sauce of any kind is a no-no in this family, so I knew if I was going to do it I had to choose a good one. Yet another aspect of this meal that didn’t disappoint. This sauce was so delicious I went out of my way to find other ways to use it so it didn’t go to waste. Highly recommend both of these for a quick weeknight meal.

Permanent Jewelry

I’ve finally taken the plunge and gotten a permanent bracelet! It’s the ultimate minimalist accessory. It took about 10 minutes and now I don’t ever have to figure out if I’m going to wear jewelry or not. I definitely think only getting one chain is okay, but it would look better in a dainty stack. I got mine at Timeless Permanent Jewelry in Scottsdale. She is so great and the choices of chains are gorgeous. Even with my self tanners, the chain is bright and shiny as ever. My only regret is not getting a necklace.

Valentine’s Dog Treats

Bocce’s, $5

We love Bocce’s in this house. I saw these while on a store run and the name made me chuckle so I picked them up. Little did I know they would become my dog’s new favorite obsession. If you remotely even try to give him another treat he would spit it out and wait for a banana and bacon one instead. Okay, he’s spoiled. Oh well…
