Pretty In Pinkoween

Welcome to the spooky chic trend I’m loving this season: Pinkoween. October is all about the spooky vibes, but who says they have to be dark, creepy, and moody all the time? Pinkoween is transforming Halloween into something with a little more glamour and a whole lot of fun with pink hues taking center stage. If you’re like me and you love Halloween but also showing a little personality, Pinkoween is honestly the perfect chance to make Halloween a bit more stylish.

The Rise of Pinkoween

Pinkoween started popping up as a quirky spin on the traditional Halloween decor. With the rise of popularity with Barbie, pink has been everywhere. What’s not to love? It’s essentially a mash-up of everything I love - the thrill of Halloween and the fun, playful energy of pink. Pinkoween is a fresh, modern take on Halloween with everyone from influencers to home decor enthusiasts showing the internet how to nail spooky season with a little touch of glam. While I love the blood and gore, Pinkoween is more about blush and glitter.

I truly didn’t even realize the lengths of Pinkoween until nearly every store had a collection of pink skeletons, plates, garlands, and pumpkins. But I’m happy it’s here because it’s exciting and it adds a pop of color to the rest of my usual black Halloween decorations. Think a dark witches cauldron filled with hot pink pumpkins. I mean, who could say no to anything that involves pink pumpkins.

How to Nail It

  • Glam It Up: Swap out the standard orange-and-black decorations for a softer palette or do like I did and combine them. Pastel pink pumpkins, sparkly cobwebs, and gold skulls can elevate your space. I love adding in a few different tones with my usual black and orange - like peach, white, and blush pink, to make a spooky yet slightly elegant look. You can even DIY your own pieces like painting pumpkins or adding metallic touches to a Halloween wreath.

  • Pinkoween Glow: Lighting plays a huge role in setting the perfect Halloween atmosphere. Change things up by swaping out harsh lights for soft, ambient pink tones with string lights, pink candles, or LED lanterns. For an extra spooky touch, put candles into pink painted pumpkins or use laterns with faux spider webs draped around them. I used glass pumpkins with twinkle lights to set the mood. I’ve seen plenty of neon signs that could bring a playful yet eerie vibe to your space. No matter how you slice it, a warm, rosy glow makes your home welcoming but has just the right amount of spooky.

  • Host a Pinkoween Party: Hosting a Halloween party isn’t new, but showcase your unique take on the holiday with a Pinkoween party. Opt for pink and gold tablescapes, serve up themed treats like strawberry cupcakes with candy spider webs or pink punch with a foggy, spooky vibe, and make sure to have plenty of pink decorations. For a fun touch, set up a pink photo background (there were plenty available for download online) and add a few glittery bats and ghost cut-outs for some extra fun.

Why I Love Pinkoween

For me, Pinkoween is the opportunity to balance spooky and glam. It let’s me celebrate my love for Halloween while also staying true to, what has become part of, my personal brand. I’ve always loved finding the beauty in unexpected places and giving my own aesthetic spin to things. This year Barbie’s Dream House got a tad bit spookier. Looking around my apartment, it just looks so cool. Shaking up the tradition and embracing a little lighter side of the season is a great way to change things up.

If you’re someone who loves pink, chic decor, and a little sprinkle of spooky, then Pinkoween is definitely for you. It’s all about celebrating Halloween in a way that adds a little lighthearted spin. Keep scrolling to see some Pinkoween inspiration and a few pieces to help get the look.
