Style Staple: Jeans
When it comes to style, nothing quite compares to a good pair of jeans. Honestly, for most of my life I’ve had a love hate relationship with jeans but as I’ve grown older, I absolutely love them. Maybe it’s because we have finally bypassed the bootcut and baggy jeans phases of the later 90s and early 2000s - the bane of my existence. Whether you’re dressing them up for a night out or keeping it casual for day errands, jeans have truly earned their place as a style staple in everyone’s closet. Now that fall has (mostly) arrived, jeans have remained a go-to with new trends emerging alongside classic fits that never go out of style. This post is all about the outfit inspiration, the different ways I love to wear my jeans right now, and a few options for your closet, showing just how essential they really are.
Fall 2024 Denim Trends to Watch
Wide-Leg: These loose-fitting jeans are making a major comeback, offering both comfort and a relaxed, effortlessly chic look.
Straight-Leg Vintage Wash: A classic straight-leg jean with a vintage wash is having a moment. A way to embrace the retro vibes without feeling dated.
Low-Rise: Despite my hatred, the low-rise jean is back but with a modern twist. These days the fit is more mid-low rise that just sits on the hips for a laid-back vibe.
Barrel Leg: Known for their relaxed, slightly tapered silhouette, they are perfect for adding a modern twist to outfits and are an alternative to the usual suspects.
Why Jeans are the Ultimate Style Staple
What makes jeans essential? The answer lies in their adaptability for any occasion, season, or trend. They are great for casual weekend looks to polished outfits for the office. They are a blank canvas with endless styling possibilities (as seen below). Here are three reasons why jeans are a non-negotiable never leaving staple:
Versatility: Whether it’s a basic tee and sneakers or a blazer and heels, jeans can be dressed up or down in a heartbeat.
Durability: A well-made pair of jeans will last for years, getting even better with time as the fabric softens and fades to the perfect worn in hue.
Comfort: With the rise of stretch denim and more relaxed fits, jeans have never been more comfortable. They have truly become a piece that can be worn all day without feeling restricted.
