Styling: Baggy Jeans
When it was announced skinny jeans were over (for some anyway) and baggy jeans were the way to go, I instantly shuddered. All I could think of was the days of the early aughts where our pants dragged across the floor collecting, dirt, mud, and water throughout the day. And, in true teen fashion, we didn’t really care. So when I kept seeing baggy pants everywhere from celebrities to the street style set and even runways, I knew it was gonna be a hard trend to embrace all over again but it was a trend that wouldn’t be going anywhere. To be frank, baggy jeans have always felt a bit out of my reach because they just never really seemed to fit my body type right. I always felt like a boy in the late 90s swimming in a pair of JENCO jeans. I really do love the trend though and I admire anyone who can rock them and look stylish. They are probably the coolest but still comfortable trend this spring has to offer.
Baggy jeans have the advantage of being paired with pieces that offset the slouchiness. Think tailored blazers and stilettos. Baggy jeans make outfits look effortless and cool whereas skinny jeans really define the outfit and make it more streamlined. There are tons of different types of baggy jeans too. There are tight-in-the-waist and super baggy or more tailored options. This means, just like many other jeans, there is a style and fit that works for whatever type of outfit vibe you’re in the mood for. When it comes to styling, baggy jeans are pretty versatile. They can be worn all year long, with nearly every type of shoe, allowing them to be everything from super casual to even more professional.
