Spring Trends Worth Embracing
Obviously, the runaways during fashion month tell us what trends are going to be popular for the next season. Of course, runway looks aren't always the most practical for daily life. They are worth lusting over multiple times a year, but not necessarily adapting regularly. Another reason runaways are more interesting to look at then copy is because not every trend is for everyone. We spend years of our lives crafting a personal style and sometimes it's hard to step outside that comfortable box to try something completely different because a designer says to. There are many trends for spring I can get behind and others just need to go. I'm looking at you ugly dad sneakers and fringe. Get outta here.
Florals
Florals are a spring thing. Hello, Captain Obvious. But what I like most about florals is there's no need to go 110% on them. A pop of color against a black fabric is sophisticated but has notes of 90s grungy origins. Everyone remembers those 90s yellow and black floral dresses worn with Doc Martens, right? Another reason I am embracing these florals is the chance to channel the 70s flare of my inner Marcia Brady.

Dark Denim
Denim is a style essential. There are tons of styles, washes, and ways to wear it. Jeans are classic and chic. They are fairly versatile. Denim jackets are a laid back and cool addition to any outfit. Denim shorts and skirts are great warm weather options. Distressed denim is one of my closet essentials, but I do enjoy dark denim. Simply because it's more flattering and compliments the monochrome colors of my closet. Not to mention it makes the pops of color stand out. And, well, of course, there's always the Texas Tuxedo if you're daring enough...
Pastels
Pastels seem like a no-brainer when it comes to spring trends. Millennial pink has been having a moment for a while now. But now the color wheel is widening to include lavender, yellow, and even green. Pastels pair great with darker colors (like dark denim!) and avoid any outfit from looking like an Easter egg. Pastels are a soft, colorful, welcome choice after the layers of dark knits all winter long.

Sheer & Transparent
I'm a big advocate of sheer touches. Whether its sleeves, necklines, or just an entire top there's something sexy about it. That said, while it may feel uncomfortable to show off the underclothes your mother taught you many times to keep covered, a sexy, subtle dash of sheer doesn't hurt. Another trend that fits in this category is the transparent bag or clear plastic elements on things like shoes. I'm not sure I'll run out, grab an entirely trasparent bad, and show off the mess inside. But if it's your thing, you do you.
Black & White Polka Dots
Ah, polka dots. I may love stripes, but I have a sweet spot for the dots. Polka dots are a sophisitcated classic with a childish element. But not childish in a bad way. There's a playful air about them that makes an outfit fun and special. Pairing these beloved dots with colors like red make them preppy and ladylike.
