Trend Tracking: Boyfriend Blazers

Fashion Month is pretty much the greatest procrastination tool ever created. There's so many things to look at which ultimately take the greatest amount of time away from things I should be doing. In the street style snaps there was one really common look done a variety of ways but featured two main pieces: boyfriend blazers + jeans.

The blazer is kinda one of my favorite wardrobe pieces because it can do a number of things. It can elevate anything else I'm wearing and make it look much more interesting. This is especially true when it comes to graphic tees (something I own far too many of). They make nearly any outfit work appropriate or a little more fancy for situations where it's called for. They can also be pretty sexy from time to time when done right (if you're daring enough to rock a bra but not a shirt). Blazers can also hide insecurities of the midsection and arms because they are loose enough to mask those areas creating a nice silhouette. Another one of my favorite things about blazers are their ability to be a coat without being a coat. You know what I mean, sometimes it's not cold enough for a full coat, but chilly enough where you need something to cover your arms.

Boyfriend blazers are long and masculine but with a touch of femininity. They are typically made of fabrics that resemble houndstooth or something similar which happens to be a major fall trend in itself. I like the pairing with jeans because jeans are my favorite. They are casual and there's always 7,000 different kinds to choose from at any given time. Somehow the combination of the two makes a really classic outfit without trying too hard. I have a feeling I'll be pulling out blazers more this fall and not just to mask incredibly low-cut tops at dinner.
