Fall Trends

While browsing the internet there's been tons of posts about what to wear this fall. Everything from the color red to bags with fur accents. There's a lot of time spent saying "why" or "I would never wear this." But then there's also a 99% chance there will be a burgundy/wine colored sweater in my closet in the next 4 weeks. It happens. Since there are so many trends I choose just some of my favorites making them the ones that truly matter.

• I've already written a post about my love of boyfriend blazers and these pull double duty with the "check" pattern being a key piece this fall

• I have a love/hate relationship with track pants. I like the skinny ones that grab at the ankle, but I cannot get behind the old school, baggy, ones that snap up the sides. It's an elementary school nightmare come back to life. Stripes up the side: fine. Snaps up the side: pass.

• Trade the classic fall wool hat (or fedora) for a baker boy hat. They go by many names including newsboy caps, but they come in so many different colors and fabrics there's bound to be something that works. It will set anyone apart from the rest.

• Our time travelling trip to the 1990s wouldn't be complete without dark florals. The only way to do florals in chilly weather is dark fabrics with interesting, colorful or even subtle flowers.

• Metallics are pretty daring (see this post) and there is a lot of different ways to wear it. My favorite is pleated midi skirts because they look really soft but sparkly and eye-catching.

• Statement boots are nothing new when it comes to fall, but I particularly liked these two. One is white because that's one trend being seen everywhere and if you're not afraid of getting them dirty (or scuff marks) go to town. The other is metallic so if you're not ready to commit to clothes, make a futuristic statement with your boots instead.
