MIX NO. 30 // BLEAK DAYS & LONGER NIGHTS

It’s a Saturday Special today on the blog. A new monthly mix has arrived and I’m embracing the cold, rainy weather. Well, everything aside from the very early morning tornado warnings from yesterday morning. As much as I complain about it being cold throughout the winter, I much prefer to have weather than straight sunny days.

We’ve had a couple of rain storms and have a few more coming this week so I wanted to make a playlist that suits those times where things feel cold and, well, bleak. When it comes to fall/winter, the nights are long…sometimes lonely. The temperatures are cold and things just feel quite dreary. The songs picked for this playlist just kinda fit that vibe. I just really wanted to make a fitting playlist that wasn’t too much of an indie-folk cliche, but that still had some of those types of perfect tunes. It’s really a playlist you could enjoy with some mulled wine or late at night or even have a cry to (if you feel so inclined).

It’s the right mix for when you’re just feeling down and the cold, dark late fall/winter just really isn’t helping the situation. Sometimes you just want to hang out in the melancholy rather than be jolted and shook with upbeat tunes.
