MIX NO. 25 // AMERICA
Another mix so soon? Yes. But, with a little caveat. I had originally made this mix many years ago. Maybe 2013? It’s been lost to time and existed on another blog that has been since deleted. I’m sure there are remnants of it somewhere.
Since it’s 4th of July I figured I would try to remix it or recreate it in some way. I can recall some of the ones I chose because, well, they are some of my favorite songs ever written. Pretty funny, right? Don’t worry, I will NEVER confirm which they are so don’t ask. If you can figure it out, kudos to you. Overall, I think this time I created a better mix than the one that previously existed.
This mix had one criteria: it must mention America or a place in America. Simple and straight to the point. That said, there is a pretty heavy leaning towards California, but who couldn’t write a billion and 1 songs about one of the best places in the country (I’m biased).
Anyway, there are many different years, genres, and artists in this mix. And, despite it being 4th of July, there was no goal to be patriotic here either. So that’s why you’ll find protest and anti-war statement songs in here. It’s also a bit longer than normal because everything is bigger and more boisterous in America whether you want it to be or not.
Enjoy fireworks, a good burger, and enjoy ‘MERICA’s birthday.
