Interior Envy: Colorful Staircases

Staircases can be a place in the home that is pretty forgotten about. They are just the means to entering another place and they don’t get as much love design-wise. Growing up I never really had a staircase so I genuinely never thought about them much and in the era of the 90s, most staircases you did find in homes were covered in carpet. I mean seriously, just staple carpet to the wall because the carpet was everywhere and on everything. But thanks to the internet these days you get to see a whole bunch of homes with unique and special designs. I ran across an article talking about colorful staircases and I was instantly smitten.

I don’t know if I’m daring enough to ever take on a colorful staircase, but I do love the look of a Spanish Revival terracotta and mosaic tile combination. Even if it can feel a little Beverly Hills High School-like (if you know, you know!). But in all honesty, staircases can be both functional and exciting to look at. More and more designers are choosing to add a little extra attitude to their homes and buildings. And it’s cool because a homeowner can be as eccentric or as subdued as they want. The colorful and exciting elements can be as big or small as they want so there is really no worry about it being too much.

Colorful staircases sounded so out of the box yet interesting enough to me that I couldn’t stop scrolling so take a look at some of my favorites I’ve found and a few tile and paint selections if you’re ready to take on a stair remodel.
