Outdoor Design Trends: Firepits
Being in the desert, a firepit can be a godsend in the winter when it’s on the chillier side so needless to say I love a good firepit. And no, not just because that is also where all the drama happens on Love Island either. There is just something about a firepit that makes a backyard or outdoor space feels that much cooler. A firepit has been an essential part of human civilization. It has always been a central gathering space that just so happens to set a good mood. One of the best things about modern living is you don’t even need a ton of space or a huge yard to have a firepit. Long gone are the days when you’d have to construct one. Now there are a billion stylish options out there that vary from wood to gas burning. It’s obviously important to make sure that no matter what type you choose it’s not too close to a structure and it is maintained properly, but when done right it can be a focal point for entertaining or just a place you want to hang out at quietly.
Firepits aren’t the only cool option out there. Chimineas are also a cool way to get extra heat and an exciting aesthetic. Chimineas are outdoor fireplaces typically made of terracotta with a Western aesthetic. They are essentially like an outdoor stove and unlike a firepit, the flames are contained. More aromatic woods are often used in Chimineas and reach their full burn potential in around 15 minutes but can be controlled just like any other wood-burning fire pit or fireplace. Although it may be more enclosed, just like with fire pits, it should be put at a safe distance and maintained regularly. I think chimineas and fire pits are great elements for any backyard living space and there are plenty to fit every aesthetic.
