Interior Study: Get Moody

There is one type of interior design style that has been crossing my Instagram feed tons more lately and I am honestly obsessed. Moody interiors are having a serious moment and when you think moody interiors Halloween or abandoned haunted houses come to mind but they are so much more than that.

One of the main elements of Moody interiors is a darker color palette. Of course the most common color being black, but that may not be right for everyone. So really the moody atmosphere can be done with just about any dark hue. Darker colors may originally be thought of as masculine, but truly they can be used to create elegant spaces especially with more glamorous or modern touches like gold or brass. Moody interiors don’t fit one particular design style either. It may seem like a much more contemporary concept, but if you’ve ever been to an art deco or old Hollywood theater, you know that the darker palette is used to set the tone of the space. Darker colors recede which is why they are used in theaters to bring focus to the screen or the stage and the same is true for the rooms in your home.

Moody interiors showcase the pieces in your room and are incredibly dramatic. I love the rooms that mix natural elements like wood or those with modern accents like the aforementioned brass/gold. To me Moody Interiors aren’t for the faint of heart and are for those who want to make a bold statement. They are so much different than what everyone is always doing that I just can’t stop looking at them.
