My Favorites of 2023

2024 is just mere hours away and that means if I intend to publish this post, I better snap to it. Mainly because my goal is to leave everything in 2023. I’m sorry for how cliché that sounds but I have always struggled with New Year’s. While other people take the time to reflect and enjoy the time, it scares the fuck out of me. Each time New Year rolls around, I find myself struggling with a mountain of anxiety and racing thoughts of all the things I haven’t done, haven’t been able to do, wanted to do, or just plain missed out on. It’s this struggle of where I am, where I want to be, and where society has decided I should be by now. I know no one comes here for me to be a Debbie Downer, but it’s reality and it sucks.

2023 has been a pain in the ass. Losing my dad was a monumental moment and shift in my life. It started to shine a light on all these things I want in life not to mention all the things that no longer serve me that I need to figure out. Almost a year later, I’m still working on those things, but I’m doing my best. I’ve experienced a whole lot of growth, especially in the past few months, and I’ve made a lot of positive changes. I am happy, beyond happy, that there are so many times I can look back on in retrospect from 2023 and say “Damn, who is that girl!” because I truly have become a new and improved person in many ways. I’m incredibly thankful for the people in my life who are always there to push me toward things and are there for me especially when I doubt myself or start to retreat into bad behaviors.

That said, I really don’t know what to say so let’s just get to it! Here are a few of my favorite things from this year - that I could remember at least! And trust me, it was a struggle, ha.
