Trend Report: Linen
If summer had a perfect fabric it would be linen. Actually summer does have a perfect and it is, in fact, linen. It’s just the most obvious choice for staying and looking cool when it’s hotter than hell outside. Your summer closet might already be busting at the seams with linen. I know mine is pretty linen forward right now between tops and shorts. Now, of course there is an argument that could be made for regular cotton, but to me, linen is the moment right now. Let’s get down to business. Linen has a weave and natural properties which makes it naturally breathable. It’s structure keeps it from clinging to the body keeping you cool all day. Linen also keeps the body free of moisture because of it’s moisture-wicking properties. So with the increase of perspiration or humidity, water will evaporate off the linen - another cooling effect. Linen also reflects heat away which lets you stay shady, cool, and without unnecessary bulky layers to protect from the sun.
