Beauty Products Saving My Skin This Summer

I will preface this post by saying I am by no means a beauty expert and only recently have I utterly gotten my shit together to start paying more attention to my skin (and especially to what goes on it). That said, I am sharing some of the products saving my skin this summer. Mainly because, well I can, and now that I have figured out what works and tried new things I can make some pretty strong recommendations to anyone who just may want them. Anywho, as much fun as summer vacations, pool days, and such are….summer can sometimes be a real bummer. Especially on the skin. There is nothing more awful than a greasy, oily, sweaty mess. Thankfully this summer has been different and these products are why.

JET LAG MASK

Summer Fridays, $49

I wear this mask to bed a few times a week to hydrate my face. With so much sun, sweating, tanner, and the like, my skin can get super dry. I absolutely love this mask. It even travels with me because it backs such a huge punch (it has Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid so need to carry extra products!).

PEPTIDE LIP TREATMENT

Rhode, $16

Look, we all know Hailey Bieber is the queen of glazed skin, so I couldn’t wait to try all of Rhode. Let’s just say I was not disappointed especially with the peptide lip treatments. There is a damn good reason they are always sold out! I swear by them. I keep one by my bed for nightly use and have others around for pick-me-ups. They plump my lips and make them feel next level. It’s a bummer I have to use them sparingly since they are so hard to get.

ICE ROLLER

Skin Gym, $30

I’m obsessed with my ice roller. It has so many benefits but during the summer it especially helps me beat the heat - and heat-related headaches. Ice rolling de-puffs and tightens the skin. It soothes red skin, acne, and even promotes blood circulation and lymphatic drainage. It’s honestly been a total beauty routine game-changer.

TANNING WATER

Tan-Luxe, $48

Yes, I have become one of those girlies who just loves to be tan. As someone with olive skin, I’m lucky to just enhance my tan a little bit. I got this on the recommendation of Instagram and, of course, Hailey Bieber so I knew I had to try it. I love how the color develops and it makes me look as tan as I was when I was a kid playing outside in the sun constantly. I’ve tried just about every tanning product out there and this is one of my favorites. It’s just so easy to use and even spot treat with. My only gripe is how easily it sweats off with the crazy Arizona heat so I feel like I’m constantly reapplying.

BLEMISH PATCHES

Zitsticka, $16

I’ll admit, wearing a mask while working out and just sweating in the heat does a number on my skin. I get the worst breakouts at the worst times. They can be painful and sometimes even as big as bug bites. Blemish patches are a godsend. These Zitsticka deep zit patches do the trick. They come with swabs that clean the area and reduce the appearance of the little bugger and microdart patches that penetrate deep down in there to zap the hell out of it.

BODY LOTION

Nécessaire, $25

This was another Instagram recommendation I got years ago. Tanner can completely dry and crack my skin like crazy so I make sure to lather up with lotion every chance I get especially before bed. What I love about Nécessaire is how simple it is. It’s moisturizing but fragrance-free so it doesn’t annoy me, give me a headache, or keep me awake. It’s clean, planet positive, AND has all the vitamins and peptides the skin needs to look great 24/7.

BODY WASH

Naturium, $14

No one wants to think about clogged pores ever, but this Naturium bodywash handles those. With tanning, sweating, and moisturizer I can take all the skin help I can get. This bodywash gently exfoliates to not only unclog pores but to smooth, soften, and just improve the overall look of the skin. It really does require quite a bit to get a good lather, but when you think of the benefits I’m all for it.

SKIN TINT

Ilia, $48

I’m not alone when I say I just can’t stand wearing foundation, no matter how light, during the summer. Skin tints just seemed to be everwhere so I spent a lot of time researching the best, clean ones and Ilia came out a winner. I’m glad I chose this one. It has all the necessary serums, SPF, and a great tint. that compliments my tan perfectly. I like that it cuts down my skincare steps into one some days when I’m in an absolute rush. I also love it doesn’t feel oily or heavy. I barely ever notice that I have it on.

COLOR CORRECTING CREAM

Hero, $13

I already mentioned the acne, dryness, and just overall nastiness masks, working out, and sweating cause to my skin, but who wants their face to be redder than it already is? Not I. That is for sure. I apply this before I put on any concealer or my skin tint to just tone down the unsightly red bits on my chin and nose. It evens out my complexion and makes for a good starting base. The cream is light and blends easily. It also has the antioxidants and peptides skin needs to look its very best.

ACNE-CONTROL BODY MIST

Versed, $15

I probably mentioned this in a post earlier this summer, but this was a gamechanger. Everything about summer and sweating sucks as you can see from just about every product on this post. I mostly spray this body mist on my back after getting out of the shower to cleanse my skin and fight that pesky acne on my back. I love how it immediately attacks them before they get out of hand because with all the crop tops and swimsuits, who wants a gross back?

SUNSCREEN

Summer Fridays, $36

Another new entry into the summer skin routine: Summer Fridays Shadedrops. Okay, it was only released a couple of months ago, but still, it’s incredible. I remember bombarding the girl at Sephora about it and if it was like other mineral sunscreens, which turn my face a ghost white. I can report it doesn’t and it’s amazing. It goes on like an absolute dream and it is thin enough to never notice that it’s even on. It’s my go-to every day, especially on light makeup days.
