6 Pieces I Love to Pair with Leggings
It feels like just yesterday I sat writing this very blog saying how I would just never be the one to wear leggings again. I mean, remember when we all used to rock them with dresses? And, no, I don’t mean just in the 90s when that was a cute go-to for school. But I take back what I have previously said and I have been reformed. With the last couple of years being all about athleisure and then straight leisure, leggings have just become a staple that is constantly on rotation. Not just on rotation but suitable for so many different things from lounging to night’s out. There are so many different types now from faux leather to the stir-up making its grand return. Both of which you can catch me wearing on Instagram.
Since leggings are probably as much of your wardrobe as they are mine from time to time, it’s worth visiting some of my favorite pieces to pair with leggings.
Cloud Coats
Cloud coats and jackets are stylish, comfy goodness. I always get compliments on mine at the gym for how comfortable it looks and I must admit the number of times I’ve found my dogs sleeping on them, can confirm they are. While we may be rounding the corner on winter, what makes these quilted beauties so great isn’t just how they look. They are lightweight and perfect for those in-between temperatures.
KNEE HIGH BOOTS
It would be fair to say knee high boots were my favorite boots this year. I always found ways to wear them and continue to. I love how they look with leggings and how they create this thin, simple silhouette. They do wonders for making legs look thinner and depending on the type of boot can dress an outfit up or down.
SWEATSHIRTS + HOODIES
Duh. This one is essential from workout to working at home. I’ve been pretty much living in my leggings and Kate Moss sweatshirt on chilly days when I’m up to my eyeballs in spreadsheets. Functional and cool? Sign me up any day.
WHITE SNEAKERS
I know there is that BS rule about no white after Labor Day or whatever, but I love the clean look of leggings and white sneakers. They can be simple deck shoes, trendy Air Force 1s, athletic, or even those trendy dad sneakers. The pairing is just iconic in my eyes. Now if I could just keep them clean…
OVERSIZED COATS
I know we are on the cusp of winter ending, but an oversized coat with a chic or athletic look is a definite yes. Obviously, the goal here is warmth but why stop there? A good coat can be the perfect ending point to any look.
SOCKS
This comes from all the cool girls across Instagram although an argument could be made that tube (and other cool) socks have been worn for a very long time. Just haven’t been Gram worthy. I think my drawer of warm, cozy winter socks speaks for itself, but I will admit this is one look I see everywhere that just kinda makes sense no matter what.
