My Summer Capsule Wardrobe...Kind Of

I feel I must preface this post by saying I like the idea of a capsule wardrobe much more than actually…living by one. If you don’t know, the term capsule wardrobe started in the 1940s as a way to describe a small collection of clothing all designed to be worn together. There is usually a similarity in color, shapes, or, in this case, occasion. The point of a capsule wardrobe is to create a closet with classics and essentials that can be mixed and matched over time. They typically include around 30 to 40 pieces and are really helpful for curating your personal style.

There is no right or wrong way to create a capsule wardrobe because it is your own after all. I’ve seen a few people recently declaring they will only be using capsule wardrobes for the time being and I truly commend those people. There is absolutely no way I could do it. Maybe I’m prone to wardrobe indecisiveness, which is why even packing for a vacation is enough to induce anxiety or just get bored. I really wanted to sit down and think of all the things a 2021 summer capsule wardrobe could need, but then I shortly realized I’ve basically just come up with my essentials (so far). This one is nowhere close to 30-40 items so there is no way it could be used for months on end to create a series of outfits, but as I said, I wouldn’t be good at that anyway…
