Trend Report: Shearling
Shearling seemed to begin as a tiny micro-trend late last year but has become one of this winter’s biggest trends - and with good reason. Just look how cozy it is? If there is a quintessential winter trend shearling would be it whether on bags, coats or even inside the home. It has been imagined in just about every color, texture, and shape. It’s curly, cozy, and comfortable. What began as a material to protect fighter pilots from the cold became a gigantic 70s trend due to its versatility. It’s been used for over a century to provide warmth.
Shearling always reminds me of two things: my grandpa’s house slippers and Penny Lane’s iconic coat from Almost Famous, which I would seriously wear today. What’s so great about shearling is that it has made its way into both home and style which means alongside my warm shearling coat is a warm fuzzy blanket and even a cute little Christmas tree. So if you’re not daring enough to rock it style-wise, you can still bring it home in a cute accent piece. I won’t lie, even choosing an accent piece is a bit hard too.
