What I'm On the Hunt For This Fall

New season, new shopping list as they say. Okay, I don’t think anyone really says that, but after eyeing tons of blogs, articles, and Instagram posts, I am feeling like my fall wardrobe is lacking a few things. The internet can sometimes be a blessing and a bit of a curse. Of course, I could do the smart thing and stick with all my go-to sweaters for the foreseeable future, but where is the fun in that? I won’t lie. I've already added a few seasonal items into my wardrobe including a new jacket, a new pair of boots, and a couple of sweaters.

Alas, there are a few fall trends on my seasonal shopping list that I’m on the hunt for and here they are.

Trench Coat

A chic trench coat is a closet essential period. I’ve just never found the right one for me. I either get a specific vibe in mind that will last for years to come or my brain immediately goes into one I’m sure will go to the wayside (like leather or black or even green). I love how trench coats look, but never really experiencing a true transitional weather period in Arizona has made me constantly rethink buying one. Hopefully, this year is my year!

COWBOY BOOTS

Western boots were popular a couple of years ago, but this year cowboy boots are on a whole new level. Growing up in the desert where cowboys once reigned supreme cowboy boots were everywhere and I swore I’d never own a pair of the damn things. But now, it’s nearly impossible to get your hands on a cool pair.

FAUX LEATHER SHACKET

I love a good faux leather anything and the trusty shacket might be the next thing added to my cart. Shackets are great for when it’s not quite cold enough for a jacket or when you just want a good, casual layering piece. Shackets are great paired with leggings and sneakers - coincidently my most recent travel outfit, haha.

DARK DENIM

Last year I was all about lighter shades of denim, but dark denim is truly where it’s at. It looks great, helps the other parts of the outfit pop, and can handle whatever life throws at it.

LOAFERS

Don’t get me wrong. I have been known to rock a loafer from time to time. But I’ve been on the fence about the new chunky platform variety that is everywhere now. I love their preppy look and they remind me of something I definitely would have snatched up in the 90s or early 2000s.

TAILORED VESTS

I just love how these look. Whether they are worn with full suiting or just on their own with baggy trousers or even jeans. They just look so chic and eye-catching. They are just one fall piece that has been on my mind for a few months now.

BAGGY TROUSERS

I admire anyone who was able to adapt to this trend back in the summertime. I also admire anyone who is able to find the perfect fitting trousers. As someone with a sometimes unfortunate body type, looking for pants can be a pure nightmare. But I love the look of these trousers so much I will not give up the hunt! I love this look with a chic sweater and the aforementioned tailored vest.

OVERSIZED BUTTON DOWNS

Similar to a trench coat, a classic button down is a closet essential. Oversized button downs are everywhere. They can be worn as an overshirt or on their own with a cool pair of boots (if long enough and styled correctly!)
