I Drank Recess CBD Infused Sparkling Water. Could I Find My Chill?

One day while scrolling Twitter on the treadmill at the gym (I know. How, as a clumsy person, can I do this?) and I was immediately intrigued. I loved the packaging, the idea, and I knew I had to have it. I mean…it was described as La Croix’s chill cousin so how could I resist?

What is Recess?

Recess is a sparkling drink infused with hemp extract and adaptogens. The natural ingredients combined claim to “help us adapt to stress and regulate our mood which helps us achieve a balanced state of mind.” The three main ingredients all serve their functions. The hemp extract calms and centers the body. Ginseng enhances focus and memory. L-theanine helps to ease stress and brighten moods. The CBD within the drink utilizes “full-spectrum" hemp extract” giving it a more potent punch. Recess comes in three flavors, Peach Ginger, Blackberry Chai, and Pomegranate Citrus.

How Did It Go?

I ordered the sample pack to try all three flavors on different occasions. I must admit I enjoyed Recess as an alternative to other CBD options. First, it doesn’t leave a strange after taste like the gummies or the oil found in other products. Second, the fruit juices and ginger help to mask any less-than-favorable tastes. Recess did help me relax and focus on one thing (aka I didn’t want to check my work email from my phone while sitting at my computer with my email also open until I eventually just go on Instagram). Not only was I productive and focused, but my mood was a bit better than normal and I didn’t have to suffer the crash from caffeine.

I love the packaging and it even caught the eye of people around me. It just looked better and tasted better than other sparkling waters too. The whole experience was just great. They go down smoothly, without guilt, and it took me a bit to finish an entire can meaning my calm continued most of the afternoon. Peach Ginger is my favorite. It was the most refreshing of the bunch, in my opinion. While I didn’t love it, Blackberry Chai doesn’t disappoint if you want something that tastes like Chai. Don’t let the blackberry fool you. It’s all about the chai.

I don’t think anything will ever be able to help me find my chill 100% but Recess did help me focus, be more productive, and handle things as they came. It was much better than a coffee boost and didn’t make me feel jittery and scatterbrained. I will definitely be ordering more very soon!

Recess is $4.99 a can, $39.99 for an 8 pack of one flavor, and $29.99 for a sample pack.
