The Best Music of 2018
It may be a cliche, but truly, where did 2018 go? On the one hand I’m pretty glad it’s over. But on the other hand, I feel as though…there were so many things left unfinished in the last (and often hellish) 365 days. There are plenty of things I wanted to do but never got around to. Plenty of things I want to remember and even more things I would love to forget once and for all. I may be a fairly pessimistic person, but at the beginning of the year I, just the same as everyone else, look forward to what the next year will bring. Right now you’ll catch me feeling pretty…hopeful.
While the last 365 days weren’t always the greatest, there was one thing I could always rely on: music. So keeping up with tradition I’ve compiled my favorite music of 2018 all in one place. It took awhile and a bit of going back and forth about skipping it altogether, but here it is: my favorite albums and songs of 2018.
I never know what to write when it comes to this because I really like when people form their own opinions about music. That may seem a little…counterintuitive with a “best of” list, but I hope you’ll find something you haven’t heard before or enjoy my choices. I will say there is no real order meaning there is no true favorite album of the year. Given that, I will say, if you don’t know where to start my two most listened to albums (based entirely on streaming algorithms) are God’s Favorite Customer and Be the Cowboy. Do with that what you will.
I am looking forward to what 2019 has in store with music and many other things so let’s get on with this.
Albums of 2018

Songs of the Year
It was an overwhelming year in music so this was quite the challenge. Songs of 2018 is compromised of songs that had heavy rotation in my headphones throughout the year. Some I shared in Thing I’m Listening To and there are a few cuts from the albums above. I think, at least one, from each. A sampler if you will. These are the songs I will always remember 2018 when hearing in the future…for better or worse.
