MIX NO. 17 // SUMMER DAZE

I have pretty lukewarm feelings about summer. Mainly because it's always way too hot to function and sometimes breathing in walls of dust isn't exactly fun. But one thing I do enjoy are summer mixes. There is just a different vibe to them compared to any other mixes made through the year. Sometimes they can be fun and upbeat and other times they can be chilled out and relaxed. This one is more chilled out and relaxed. Mix no. 17 was inspired by long, dreamy summer days. The days where nothing sounds better than relaxing in the pool with a cold beverage. Sadly that's not plausible every day, but still, I wanted this mix to have that feel. I played this mix while doing everything from driving to working long hours at my computer and even winding down at night before I went to sleep. So there are many different types of situations where this mix comes in handy. Ideally its for those long days floating around the pool or sitting around, relaxing in the air conditioning. This has been on pretty heavy rotation around my house in addition to some other new music. I really just like turning this on and enjoying a glass of wine after a super long day.

The mix is filled with mostly indie tracks including some 'dreampop' and a couple tracks that have a modern yacht rock type vibe. I even included a jazz track at the end which I heard while driving home one evening and instantly knew had to be included on this mix. Normally I leave the jazz to cooking playlists, but I couldn't resist the vibe this track has. It's also a few tracks longer than the usual monthly mixes giving extra time to fully absorb the summer vibes.
