Mix No. 10: #MOOD

Sometimes I just get in a #mood I can't explain, but when making this playlist it became pretty clear just what was causing the feeling. I constantly battle with how personal to be on my blog because it's really scary to just put all your feelings out there into the void. Despite that being the entire point of a blog in the first place, right? It doesn't have to be some fake, robotic, heavily curated space. It should be personable and real. That said, you never really know whose reading it, but here goes nothing.

One of my favorite things to Snapchat or Tweet is #mood. It's usually some incredibly dumb (but funny) GIF or just a snapshot of real life. I realize I do it most often when I'm sad, annoyed, or frustrated. When I set out to make a playlist I really didn't know where I wanted to go, but I knew I was just feeling down. Anyone within earshot of this playlist can see exactly what was getting me down: love and relationships.

No one ever said love was easy, but it's always supposed to be worth it. No one ever said I would reach a point where I became so frustrated and exhausted. A point where I just want to emotionally not exist. I just want to shut down and not think or feel. I might be stuck too far inside my own mind (it happens) and, combined with other life things, it just becomes too overwhelming. I wish I could fast forward to the end and see what happens. But since that's not a plausible course of action, I just have to wait it out and hope that everything works out. To me, that seems so scary.Uncertainty drives me bananas. Even when it seems incredibly hard the pay off is what's important right? That big pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Sometimes I just wish other people understood better which would make things easier to communicate about and I wouldn't feel so written off all the time. Well, it would also help if this guy got his shit together, but that's for a different time and place.

So, this month's mix just fell together based on my #mood as of late. It's kinda of dreamy and really easy to just exist to. Whether it's on in the background or while just lying around contemplating one of life's unexplainable wonders (love), I think it just works. All the songs are really great, and I tried to include some new releases and some older classics. Of course, there's a ew on here that have been on recent episodes of Twin Peaks (all of which inspired emotional reactions in myself). Most notably I've Been Loving You Too Long by Otis Redding which has made my cry every. single. time.

This playlist really isn't pro-love but it's not anti-love either. I guess I just made it for that Debbie Downer mood I can't really explain fully to others. So if you're not feeling down, maybe you just want a playlist of cool songs. That's fine too.
