My Favorite Podcasts

Fact: Treadmill minutes are longer than regular Earth minutes. Okay, maybe that's not even a little bit true, but it certainly feels that way. While I have a pretty sweet playlist of treadmill songs, sometimes podcasts are better suited for time spent at the gym. It's like being involved in a conversation without all that human interaction bit. Not only that, it's ridiculously easy to slip into a groove and time flies by.

These are three of my go-to podcasts for fighting the monotony associated with regular activities like...driving, gym time, and even laundry.

Throwing Shade

Taking a weekly look at all the issues important to ladies and gays...and treating them with much less respect than they deserve.

Bryan and Erin are two very funny comedians who I saw on @Midnight a while back, and their podcast is even more funny. They say the things everyone is thinking, and well, I wouldn't know what a frappiato maxiato* is without them. Download the latest episode on iTunes

#GirlBoss Radio

On each episode, Nasty Gal founder and author of #GirlBoss Sophia Amoruso interviews world-class girl bosses who have made their mark in creative, cultural and business ventures to extract solid advice from the lessons they’ve learned along the way. Expect hilarious co-hosts and conversations you won’t hear anywhere else. On this podcast, Sophia hopes to humanize the known, champion the unknown, and, well, laugh a little about the absurdity that is life. Are you ready?

Sometimes life is a little hard out there but there's Sophia and her inspirational girl gang are there to build you up one podcast at time. I love #GirlBoss radio because the real stories about how powerful women got where they are really helps drive me forward when I'm having a hard time. Sophia also has made me stop and appreciate one small #girlboss moment in my own life once a week. Little things begin to add up to big things.

That's So Retrograde

Elizabeth Kott and Stephanie Simbari love green juice, a good palm reading, and a guided mediation via YouTube. Also whiskey, the occasional ‘jazz’ cigarette, and the (not-so-occasional) cute boy. Join them on their weekly podcast, That’s So Retrograde, as they seek out their own paths, however twisty they might be. Through interviewing gurus of all times, Elizabeth & Steph, get to the bottom of how to find their best-selves. Or their most okay-selves. Or just themselves. Whatever.

That's So Retrograde is hilarious and entertaining. It's also what inspired the direction of this blog a bit. They began my journey on the path to discovering wellness, and sometimes we all need a little push. They also made me feel like it's okay not to have it together. We are just figuring it out one day at a time. I love their funny adventures and spectacular guests that give insights into things I wouldn't have known about before. The roses and thorns is always funny and exactly what real life commentary is like. Anything from bore-chella to the Kardashians isn't off limits. I always finish the podcast having learned something worth considering or taking into practice into my own life. I, too, love a good green juice.
