5 Podcasts I'm Listening to Right Now
At the risk of sounding like one of those people, I only recently got a new TV and reactivated my streaming services. I mention this for two reasons. 1. I learned to love podcasts. Pretty much because it kept me informed in my old timey lifestyle. 2. I like my podcasts like I like my television: informative. I like stories, current events, and things that enhance my life in some way.
I listen to these 5 podcasts weekly (and some even daily). They are informative, interesting, and entertaining. That is not to say I don’t listen to my fair share podcasts that don’t exactly fit my “type.” There is Rose Pricks, the Bachelor/Bachelorette roast, so I can keep up with my friends (and it’s much funnier than the actual show). I also listen to quite a few marketing and business centered podcasts that help me in work (and sometimes even with this whole blogging thing). Then there is the wellness podcasts that just interest me because they cover a wide variety of things.
How can I possibly have the time to listen to all of these? Well, sometimes I marathon them. Sometimes I just casually listen to them while getting ready for work, getting ready for bed, or when I just can’t find anything worth streaming. So here are the 5 that I’m loving right now. Some you may have heard of and other’s you may not have.
Pod Save America
Pod Save America is podcast that gives you a no bullshit look at what’s currently happening in the world of politics. Hosted by former Obama aides, Pod Save America brings journalists, activists, politicians together for an insightful and entertaining conversation. Come for the political insights and stay for the Cash App ads. #spencerisntreal.

White Lies
White Lies is a podcast uncovering the lies that kept the murder of a Civil Rights activist, Rev. James Reeb, in 1965 from being solved. There are twist and turns that question why three men where tried and acquitted of the crime. 2 journalists return to Alabama to investigate the crime and reveal what this says about America.
The Daily from The New York Times
The Daily is a news podcast from the New York Times that digs deeper into one subject, related to current events, and gives you a solid background about it in 20 minutes. They also give you insights into everything else you need to know in order to start your day informed. They cover subjects from the protests in Hong Kong, how hacking closed down an entire city in Maryland, Brexit, and even how familial DNA began being used to solve crimes.
Man In the Window
Speaking of familial DNA solving crimes, the first large case they solved was GSK. Man in the Window from the LA Times covers details about one of California’s deadliest serial killers who evaded capture for over 40 years. It traces his origins through his victim’s eyes. It’s a series of interviews with people who are struggling to figure out the dark compulsions that drove this behavior.
Teen Creeps
Now for a lighter, funnier option: Teen Creeps. If you love Goosebumps, Sweet Valley High, and cheesy (but good) horror flicks, this is the podcast for you. Each week Kelly and Lindsay break down a YA pulp fiction book with glorious, hilarious commentary. They get into everything awkward about our youth with special guests and they read books we have (most times) long forgotten. They will keep you company and brighten your mood when you’re feeling down.
