Oh the Places I'd Go In 2024

Over the past couple years, I have gotten much more into traveling. If I don’t get to go somewhere I start to feel super bummed. Embarking on a journey to explore new destinations is a timeless pursuit that fuels our sense of adventure and enriches our lives with unforgettable experiences. As we step into the year 2024, I started to curate a travel bucket list of places I would go or really want to go to. Places that promise to be a tapestry of diverse landscapes, captivating cultures, and hidden gems. Among the myriad possibilities, these are some extraordinary destinations that should be on every avid traveler's radar.

As you embark on your travel adventures in 2024, let this curated bucket list be your guide to discovering the world's most enchanting destinations. Whether you're drawn to the sun-kissed beaches of Sifnos, the historic wonders of Cairo, or the vineyards of Bordeaux, each destination promises a unique tapestry of experiences that will linger in your memory for years to come.

Mallorca, Spain

Mallorca, the largest of Spain's Balearic Islands, is a paradise for sun-seekers and culture enthusiasts alike. With its crystal-clear waters, charming villages, and historic sites, Mallorca captivates with its diverse offerings. A bit of Balearic bliss if you will. There are plenty of idyllic villages to visit with cobbled streets and stone houses like Valldemossa which happens to have a very artistic heritage as well. Of course, there are pristine beaches, walking trails, and plenty of places that allow visitors to connect with many of the island’s untouched landscapes. Aside from these pristine beaches, Mallorca is on my list for its architecture including the Cathedral of Santa Maria. It’s a masterpiece of Gothic architecture overlooking Palma Bay. The historic old town is a place to admire medieval streets and hidden gems. Explore the Gothic masterpiece of La Seu, the Cathedral of Santa Maria. Its breathtaking architecture overlooks the Palma Bay.

Alentejo, Portugal

Alentejo is a destination filled with rolling plains and historic riches. Travelers are invited to explore its vast landscapes dotted with cork oak trees and vineyards. Sun lovers can enjoy pristine Comporta Beach. It is surrounded by sand dunes and rice fields making it a peaceful retreat. Nature lovers can take long walks in the cork oak forests and learn all about the cork harvesting process. Alentejo made it onto my travel list because it is a great destination for design lovers. In addition to modern treasures, like the first hotel designed by Christian Louboutin, Alentejo contains the well-preserved medieval town of Évora. The World Heritage site has plenty of Roman ruins including a cathedral and a charming square. Alentejo is a destination that seamlessly blends history, nature, and relaxation not to mention places to enjoy the region’s wines.

Lake Como, Italy

Lake Como is probably one of the most well-known and cliche places on this here list. But it’s a destination that is a symphony of elegance and nature. Immortalized by poets and filmmakers alike, Lake Como is a haven of sophistication and natural beauty. Surrounded by charming towns and luxurious villas, the lake offers a serene retreat against the backdrop of the majestic Italian Alps. Nestled on the western shore of Lake Como, the enchanting Villa del Balbianello boasts terraced gardens and stunning lake views. It's a popular filming location, featured in movies like "Casino Royale." Of course, just like many I want to visit this destination for its view. But, Lake Como also made the list because of its cultural heritage. It is a living canvas of art, architecture, and natural beauty. It is surrounded by the majestic Italian Alps which provides a breathtaking view whether you’re on a boat or walking the scenery.

The island’s main town, Apollonia, is a hub of culture and art. It is filled with boutiques filled with local crafts and the Archaeological Museum which showcases the rich history of the island. There is also the aforementioned Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, is now in ruins but still provides glimpses into the grandeur of the tomb.
