Let's Talk About...Coastal Cowgirl
It feels like every few months there is a new aesthetic sweeping the internet. Somehow I feel like I was just talking about coastal grandmother even if that was some….million years ago. I’ll admit I only learned about Coastal Cowgirl through the dozens and dozens of online content pieces about it rather than it’s actual origin: TikTok. Coastal Cowgirl has been declared a trend for summer and has over 7 billion views and counting on TikTok. Since it seems to be a trend that is going to be around for a few months at the very least, let’s freaking talk about it.
What Is Coastal Cowgirl?
Coastal Cowgirl is just as it sounds - a combination of both rugged and relaxed. The cowgirl aspects come from western essentials like denim, boots, and cowboy hats while the coastal feel comes from knits, linens, and more romantic, feminine elements. It’s an aesthetic that can translate to both style and home which is why more and more home decor trends are falling in line as well. Coastal Cowgirl can feel effortless. When it comes to style, the look can be achieved with only a few simple basics like denim cut-offs or cowboy boots. For the home, add in Earth tones, denim, florals, and even light blue. Other materials like linen, lace, wicker, rattan, wood, and leather are also ideal for pulling off this aesthetic
Coastal Cowgirl encourages the mixing of prints and textures. This means there are plenty of options to help you build the right outfit or home scheme. The color palette is light and airy. A lot of white, cream, and ivory mixed with that light coastal blue. The aesthetic also shares a lot of similarities with current festival fashion, which means you really can’t go wrong all summer long. I’m no Coastal Cowgirl expert, although I have been known to rock a nice pair of cowboy boots from time to time. So I went in search of both style and home inspiration and collected a few of my favorite pieces to add a little Coastal Cowgirl to your life.
