2024 Interior Trends

It’s not really that shocking I spent a lot of time looking at interior decor trends for 2024. I’ve started to revisit my love for design and interiors over the last few months which I’m really excited about. Every year there are always a few trends that catch my eye or I become utterly obsessed with and 2024 is no exception. As we step into 2024, the world of interior design is taking a bold leap forward, blending timeless elegance with modern innovation. Next year’s trends are promising to transform living spaces into luxurious havens.

I’ve chosen a few to highlight but trust me, there is plenty more that could be covered. Whether you're looking to revamp your entire home or just add a touch of modernity, incorporating these trends will undoubtedly elevate your living spaces to new heights of style and comfort. Embrace the future of design and make your home a true reflection of your unique personality and taste.

Quiet Luxury

Another fashion-turned-home trend is Quiet luxury. This one is calling for embracing neutral color palettes like soft grays, muted greens, and calming blues. Incorporate luxurious materials such as marble, cashmere, and silk for a subtle yet sophisticated touch. This trend is all about creating an atmosphere of refined elegance without the need for extravagant displays.

What I Love: I love the subtle and sophisticated nature of this trend. It’s all about the nicer things but without being too ostentatious. It’s a trend that honestly feels like it will outlast its trendiness. Quiet Luxury is becoming more of a lifestyle than simply an aesthetic and as someone who likes nice things, it’s one I can get behind.

Brutalism

Brutalism, characterized by raw concrete surfaces and bold, unapologetic structures, is emerging as a prominent design trend in 2024. This style can be introduced through statement furniture pieces, textured walls, or even bold architectural elements. Contrasting the roughness of brutalist elements with softer textures and furnishings can create a balanced and visually appealing aesthetic.

Why I Love It: If you know me, you know I enjoy some Brutalist Architecture from time to time. So I was pretty surprised to see this trend pop up on lists, but then I remembered the times we all spent razzing celebrity’s houses made of cement (okay, maybe that was just me). Brutalism is a form of modernist architecture that was popular during the '50s, '60s, and '70s. It was defined by simple, stark structures and, of course, concrete. It seriously brings an unexpected twist to any room, and I am obsessed with it.

Chocolate Brown

Chocolate brown is making a decadent return to interior and style palettes this year. This rich and warm hue brings a sense of grounding and sophistication to any room. Incorporate chocolate brown through furniture, accent walls, or even smaller decor items like vases or cushions. Pair it with contrasting colors like cream or gold for a luxurious and inviting ambiance.

Why I Love It: It’s taken me a while to warm up to chocolate brown because it just felt very 70s to me, but the more I see it the more I warm up to it. I love the richness of it and how it adds a lot of depth to spaces. It’s an interesting alternative to black or other dark shades and it compliments wood perfectly.

Cool Metals

Cool metals, such as chrome and aluminum, are taking center stage in 2024. There has been a surge of these sleek materials into fixtures, furniture, and accessories and many of them have become popular search terms. From contemporary light fixtures to metallic-framed furniture, these cool tones add a modern edge to your space, creating a harmonious blend with other design elements.

Why I Love It: Cooler metals started infiltrating fashion so it’s really not a surprise that it’s headed are now headed for the home space now. I love that it’s a bit of a turn from the usual metals we’ve been seeing everywhere, like brass, although I definitely love that too. These cooler metals just feel so futuristic and look.

European Design

European design has always been synonymous with sophistication, and 2024 is no exception. Current trends vary from English countryside vibes to more high-end Italian influences and the vintage feel of French style. This year will see a fusion of traditional European aesthetics with contemporary elements. Think classic French elegance paired with sleek Italian minimalism. Incorporate vintage pieces with a modern twist, such as ornate mirrors or regal chandeliers in muted metallic finishes, to achieve a timeless yet fresh look.

What I Love: The European style is very eclectic and there is so much to love and so many different styles to pull from. I am drawn to the mid-century and modern styles which is very present in Danish design. The simplicity is modern and timely yet the spaces and pieces can bring character and charm to the home - because they tend to be inspired or are vintage pieces.

Corduroy

Move over, velvets and silks—corduroy is making a stylish comeback in 2024. This textured fabric synonymous with the 1970s, brings warmth and comfort to any space, making it perfect for upholstery, throw pillows, or even curtains. Choose rich, earthy tones like olive green or deep burgundy to add depth and create a cozy atmosphere in your living room or bedroom. It is the perfect complement to so many other fabrics that it can seamlessly fit into nearly any space, still look modern, and make a huge impact.

What I love: What I love the most about corduroy is how designers utilize colors like pink to pack a punch and use them in different applications that really wow. For example, the designers used a pretty corduroy to line the drawers in their shop to compliment the colors, textures, and fabrics of the products inside.
