The Spring Shoe Trends You Need to Know

Spring is picking up speed and that means a slew of new trends. Sure all of the trends are fun, but we can’t forget the footwear. There are tons of spring shoe trends from platform loafers to clogs. Instead of running directly to sandals or sneakers like I normally would, I wanted to examine some of the other trends I’ve seen floating around the runways, street style, and social media. Just like with any other trends there are some I would wholeheartedly embrace and others I would find myself wondering why I wanted to partake in them. Simply scrolling through trends has me remembering the early 2000s and back-to-school shopping where I insisted I needed chunky, platform black sandals and a pair of clogs or I would be the uncoolest kid in school. Of course, the black chunky sandals caused me to roll my ankles more times than I care to remember and clogs were probably fun for about 5 minutes in the sweaty Arizona sun.

Fast forward to being an adult and seeing them all the rage again because of fashion cycles, I can’t help but wonder if they are suddenly worth a shot again. Am I much more stable on my feet now? Will I look chic in a pair of clogs with my arguably much more stylish adult wardrobe? Only time will tell, but for now, step away from the sandals and step into these spring trends.

Platforms

Sky-high heels aren’t really new, but platforms are commanding the spring season. They have long since been the go-to party shoe perfectly paired with mini dresses and mini skirts. Luckily, just about every type of shoe from sandals to sneakers has a platform style for you to embrace. This means no matter what your comfort level or style, you can be rocking the sell-out shoe of the season.

Chunky Sandals

“Ugly” sandals were all the rage last year with no signs of slowing down this year. The chunky sole provides comfort and a bit of lift. An everyday wearable version of the platform trend. Many of these styles are classics with added chunkiness and others take on a more futuristic look. Similar to platforms, there is a style that fits just about any one and any outfit.

Faux Fur

When you think faux fur, slippers probably comes to mind immediately. But this spring, faux fur is appearing on everything from slides to ballet slippers and even sandals. It is by far one of the most head-turning shoe trends for this season, but they are comfortable and made for leaving the home. They will instantly elevate any outfit.

Clogs

Clogs were a big fall trend that has carried over into spring. It perfectly captures the 70s vibes that have been picking up speed lately. And they also remind me of the early 2000s when the cycle eventually repeated itself and they were popular once again. I surely remember wearing or at least trying to find the perfect pair. Clogs were once considered to be a part of the “ugly” shoe trend and were quite rustic in appearance. But now, they are chicer than ever.

Cool Heels

Cool heels is a pretty broad trend that, to me, encompasses everything from bright colors to unique styles. The heel itself can be the cool part as many of the runways had out of the box heels like nail polish containers. These cool heels elevate an outfit and even just make a statement all on their own.
