In the Kitchen: Magnolia Table Chocolate Chip Cookies
Somehow, someway my life has turned into a quest to try nearly every chocolate chip cookie recipe in the world. It might just be some way to compare my own recipes to those of others or maybe it's just I get sick of those recipes and want to try new ones. It also doesn't hurt that the holiday season is creeping up, and I'll need some new go-tos for the cookie tin. No one can resist a good chocolate chip cookie. I found this recipe while browsing Pinterest for something completely unrelated. In fact, Pinterest showed it to me countless times in the pins I might enjoy section. Pretty much whispering in my ear "make these" every 2 seconds. I'm always a little skeptical but Joanna Gaines is pretty cool so why not give it a shot? Plus, there was convenient Trader Joe's right next to my eye doctor so there was no excuse for me to avoid picking up flour and chocolate chips.
How Did It Go?
Well, I was intrigued by the recipe because it only uses light brown sugar as the source of sugar. I've never seen that before. At first I thought it might be too much brown sugar but it actually worked out really well. It gave them this really nice light caramel brown appearance inside. I didn't alter anything with the recipe this time, other than adding extra sea salt flakes on top. I did make gigantic cookies though. The recipe, allegedly, makes up to 40 cookies which is quite a lot of cookies when you're just one person. I ended up making larger cookies and still had to go deliver them around so I wouldn't be tempted to just eat them all myself. So you'll notice the cookies appearing here are much larger. I also baked them per the recipe, and they were still perfectly under-baked. Completely gooey inside while hot and soft days later.
I would definitely make these again. I'm adding them into my cookie arsenal. Everyone they were given to loved them. They definitely weren't around long.
So I guess it's Joanna Gaines: 2 | Me: 0
