Styled: Faux Leather Skirt

I picked up a faux leather mini skirt at Zara while shopping for my recent vacation to Las Vegas. It was on sale and I figured might as well. I really liked it when I tried it on in the dressing room despite not really being sure what I would pair it with on a night out (or any other time really). In the picture above you can see it has a cinched waistband and pockets. Pockets are essential as any girl knows. A faux leather mini skirt can give any wardrobe a little edginess without trying too hard. It can be paired with a feminine blouse or camisole to tone down the harshness of the leather or it can be worn with a simple t-shirt to make it look more casual. I've brainstormed a few ways to rock the mini with the hopes it gets more use than my faux leather birdcage skirt.

The lining inside my skirt is a warmer wool type fabric so I'm not sure how wearable it will be in the coming months with the summer heat. It will be pretty cool to be able to wear it during the colder months, but for summer maybe a nice night out or something. It fits me more like a pencil skirt (hello hips) which is really one of the downsides for me personally. Another thing is the cinched waistband. Tucking tops in seems to be the only way to go with this skirt, but the waistband makes my middle section look like a wrapped up present.

Zara no longer has the exact skirt in their online store, but this is the most similar that they offer: Leather Mini Skirt. There are plenty of other options depending on style and budget including these from Topshop, Isabel Marant, SET, and Silence + Noise.
